Let's Talk Therapy
Welcome to the Toronto Relationship Clinic Blog! My name is Benita. I am a psychotherapist and mental health professional. I love working with people as they engage some of their deepest personal and relational work. Relationships are my jam. When we talk about relationships, we're talking about our relationships with others and our relationship with ourselves. The quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives.
Therapy works in this relational space. Therapy is an art, and it is a science. Therapy is both a creative and technical process. Therapy is non-linear, and yet it has order, logic, rhyme and reason. Therapy is dynamic, contextualized, collaborative, and relational. Therapy is spiritual. It is a process of joining, learning, healing, growth, and integration. The issues of life become the raw materials with which we create masterpieces.
Therapy is exploration and discovery. Therapy is a safe space to look deeply into the mystery of what makes you tick. It can be scary and yet exhilarating. It can be clarifying, and it can raise questions. We take those pesky emotions that we don’t always know what to do with, we peel back the layers, we peer into the messiness, and we figure it out. Or not. Either way, we learn through it.
The therapeutic process is a messy-beautiful unfolding in which both client and therapist are changed. Let me be clear though. I am not a miracle worker with a magic wand. I'm not here to "fix you" or "fix it". I am here to walk with you along this stretch of your journey. To bear witness to your healing and support your growth. Long enough to help you realize that you already have what it takes to be great at this thing called life.
